Airbnb Balcony Essentials: From Our Myrtle Beach Condo

Turning a screened balcony into the spot guests don’t want to leave.

Every Airbnb has a kitchen. Every Airbnb has a bed. What most Airbnbs don’t have is a reason for guests to sit outside with their morning coffee and just… stay there. At Blue Haven Villa, our screened balcony overlooks the pool and golf course — and we learned early on that the furniture and styling out there matters just as much as anything inside. A great view with a folding chair and nothing else is a missed opportunity. A great view with the right seating, texture, and color becomes the photo guests post, the detail they mention in reviews, and the reason they book again next year.

Here’s what we use to make that happen.

1. Flamaker 3-Piece Wicker Bistro Set

This is the anchor of the whole balcony. Two chairs and a small table, sized just right for a screened-in space without crowding it — comfortable enough that guests actually linger instead of glancing out and heading back inside. The black wicker finish reads clean and modern against almost any backdrop, which matters when the real star of the space is the view behind it, not the furniture itself. It’s also genuinely built for outdoor life — weather-resistant materials that hold up through humidity, sun, and the occasional pool splash without looking worn down after a season of guest turnovers.

2. Nicole Miller Calla Herringbone Indoor/Outdoor Area Rug

This is the detail most hosts skip — and it’s the one that changes a balcony from “furnished” to “designed.” A simple rug under the seating area grounds the whole space, softens the hard concrete or tile underfoot, and adds the kind of texture that makes an outdoor space feel intentional rather than like an afterthought. The blue/grey herringbone pattern was a deliberate choice for us — it echoes the coastal color palette without being literal (no anchors, no rope trim), so it feels elevated rather than themed.

It’s also fully rated for outdoor use, which matters — this isn’t an indoor rug you’re gambling on humidity and rain; it’s built to actually live outside.

3. LVTXIII Outdoor Throw Pillows (Set of 2, Blue Bricks)

The fastest, cheapest way to make outdoor furniture feel finished. These pillows tie directly into the coastal color story we’re building throughout the whole property — blue tones that nod to the water without being overly literal — and the outdoor-rated fabric means they hold up to sun, humidity, and the occasional pool splash without fading or mildewing the way an indoor pillow would.

Small addition, disproportionate visual impact — this is the kind of detail that shows up in guest photos far more often than the furniture itself.

None of this requires a full outdoor renovation. A comfortable seating set, a rug underfoot, and a couple of well-chosen pillows are enough to turn an ordinary balcony into the spot guests photograph and remember. If you’ve got a pool or golf course view like we do, this is genuinely one of the highest-impact, lowest-effort upgrades you can make.
